Craft Class Week 5….

This week's craft was a tree skirt.
I just love how they all turned out!

 I really loved this one!
I think it's the larger trim, or maybe it's just that it's more the colors I like for myself.

It was a small class this week. Our winter storm really messed things up, but it is that time of year. (frown)

This was a great no-sew project, and so much fun to do. Shiela would have loved that, but she wasn't able to make it to this class. She really doesn't like sewing projects!

Only 3 more classes left! Next week is another project made from wood.
I can't wait to show it to you!
 Until then....

Craft Class Week 4….

Another week, another great craft!
This is a towel hook, or candle hook, or a hook for whatever you would like it to be for. (smile)

Craft Class Week 3.....

We made these cute valances.
They had a choice to do either
fall...

001

 or winter...

002

They can be used as a window valance,

003

or you can put them at the top of a door.

These ladies are all so hard at work.

This was really an ambitious project. I know they don't all love stitching, but they are better at it than they think. (smile)

Craft Class Week 1….

As promised....here is a photo of our first weeks craft project.
This was a LOT of fun. We used different sized drill bits to drill designs into our pumpkins.

I think this was the most popular design.

001

I loved this design....a pumpkin vase. My apologies for the lack of lighting. You can click on any one of these photos to enlarge them.

001

I have to admit. It's been a very long time since I have carved a pumpkin, but this is a great and easy way to do it.
I just put a small string of lights inside, so it can be plugged in vs. having to light an actual candle. That always scares me if you are keeping your pumpkin in your house.

I wish I had pictures of all the ladies carving/drilling their pumpkins, but I forgot my camera. (frown)

I know I've posted out of order, but I should be all set after this.
Next up....week 3!

Julie

Craft Class Week 2….

First of all, let me just say that I cannot believe I have let almost the entire month of October go by without a post! I am so sorry about that!!

Now that fall is here, that means it's time for my fall craft classes.

In case you haven't noticed, I am starting with week 2. I still need to get pictures of our first week's project, so once I do I will be posting that one straight away.

Okay, so this project was totally designed out of the fact that I really needed something to hold up my cookbooks while following recipes. I was always propping them up on something, only to have them sag down...wash, rinse, repeat!

This is what I came up with...

It's also great for displaying your favorite cookbook from season to season.

017

016

I also found some other uses for it! (wink)

Oh, and for all you techy's out there...it makes a great stand for your Ipad or Kindle, too!

Just look at these ladies...so hard at work.

021

It was a great night, and I think they were pretty happy with what they made.

Great job ladies!

Blessings,
Julie

The Busy Season…..

I love fall for so many reasons. The number one reason is that I get to prepare our pantry for the upcoming winter season. Although it's a lot of work at the time, it's also very rewarding. Especially when you get to enjoy the taste of all your hard work with family and friends.

Piper was a lot of help in preparing our pantry this year. She can take the skin off a peach like nobody's business! I'm so happy that she enjoys helping with these sorts of things, because she is learning so much in the process. Hopefully it won't be all work, but great memories when she fills her own pantry someday.

I'm sure you've noticed a big lapse in my postings, and I apologize for that. I've had to battle a back/neck issue, and just recently my father in law has been in the hospital with heart problems. I am doing much better, and we hope that my father in law will be on the road to recovery soon, as well. He still has one more surgery to go through, but our family has a very strong faith and belief that God will carry him through just fine.
If you feel a little stir in your heart to say a prayer, we'd appreciate it!
Blessings,
Julie

Life These Days at Our Little Red Salt Box....

003

010

More "smarshmallow" fun!

014

Dillyn loves smores made with Reese's
Peanut Butter Cups.

Taking a break from eating smores, to play on the game boy
that belonged to Uncle Tom when he was this age.

022

What good is a campfire if you don't dance
around it??

026

We still have peas!

001

Fresh veges...YUM!
No beets this year, though. The deer got them all!

004

My husband and brother in law enjoying
a chat on the back steps.

005

Piper and her best friend...Hollie.

022

Somebody thought Hollie needed a necklace
made out of clover.
008

My little kitchen helper and I made some zucchini bread.

Well, that's our life these days. Full of relaxation, family, and fun!

Our summer days are slowly turning to fall.
I noticed some of the leaves are already beginning to turn. Pretty
soon we'll be living in a beautiful box of crayons....my favorite time of year!

Enjoy your time!

Julie

The Potager Garden

Good morning folks! It's another cool rainy day, here in Northern Maine. Our long winter has turned into a long, cold spring. Let's...
