A Little Chat with Friends....

Hello everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Northern Maine. Cold, but that is to be expected, and we are used to it. We have a nice warm fire going in the cook stove and the tea water is on. Would you like to come in for a visit? Oh, please do! Can you feel the warmth of the fire? Take your coat off and sit a spell. What kind of tea would you like?

I put a chicken on to boil down so I can make some stock. My mom had to kill some of her roosters, so she sent one over. Thanks Mom! Have you ever made homemade chicken stock? I am thinking that my lovely friend Faye from The Blessed Hearth has. I always think of her when I am cooking, or making bread.

Faye has really been a true inspiration to me. I don't know if she knows that or not, so perhaps I need to tell her. If you have never visited with her before, you can find a link to her blog under my "Don't forget to visit my friends" list on the left hand side of my page. She'll have a fire burning and biscuits in the oven just for you. You'll find lots and lots of wonderful recipes, crafts, and spiritual inspiration on her blog. I love my visits with her!

There really hasn't been much going on here. I fell on the ice last Sunday and hurt my left knee, so I have been laying low this week. I'm hoping I didn't seriously injure it, but it doesn't seem to be improving much. Maybe it just needs more time?

Our eldest son Matthew, and his two little ones are coming over later on. They want to make a cake with Meme. I love baking with them! If I remember, I'll take pictures. (smile)

Well that's all I have for today. I always love our visits together, so thank you for stopping by.
Keep warm and stay safe!

Blessings,
Julie

  1. Faye Henry (The Blessed Hearth) has the most wonderful blog. Full of all kinds of inspiration! She is a kind person that makes you feel all good inside.

Grandkids are coming over today to bake a cake? Sounds like fun to me. My 14 year old granddaughter loves to bake with me but basketball has taken over our time together.....(sigh).....She will be starting another league soon

Hope your knee will soon be feeling a whole lot better!!!! It is very icy here, too.. Ice scares me. I'll say some prayers for that bad knee and you.

    Have a good week!

  2. Well said, Susannah! It really does make you feel good inside.....like a warm hug!

I know that someday our grandkids will give up their time with us for bigger things as they get older. I work really hard at keeping that relationship strong now, so that they will still be close later on.

My knee is healing...slowly. I fear I did something to it, but am thanking God daily for working on my behalf to heal it. All in God's time. If it continues on too much, I'll be sure to have my doctor check it out.

Do you have much snow? How are the temperatures? It's negative 4 here. Not sure what the wind chill is, but the wind is whipping up a storm. Joe was outside earlier and said he could hear the trees crack in the cold and wind.

Hope all is well and you are nice and warm. If you were here, we'd have some tea!

    Hugs,
    Julie

  5. Julie I love your pantry!!!! And all your stuff. I hurt my knee a long time ago , it seemed to take forever to heal, but it will, just give it time, and maybe the doctor could hurry it along a little. If you are like me you need it healed by spring so you can plant flowers and work in the beds, and you have to be on your knees to do that, lol.I so wish I could have a wood stove in my kitchen like yours,I can see things cooking on it now. I am excited I have some baby chicks coming today,Billy is bringing them from Bangor,I bought them from a lady around that area.Plus I have some that will be hatching in a week or so out in the coop under the hens.In another few weeks I will fill my incubator and hatch our some to.I do sell a lot through out the spring and summer.I love doing this,if someone would have told me a few years ago that I would be rasing chickens and having some in my house I would have told them they were crazy.LOL Guess you just never know.I miss my granddaughters cooking with me to,but baskeball has taken Jayden away and cheering has taken Gracie. But they like doing those things and they are older now,Jadeyn will be 15 this Thursday and Gracie will b 12 in April,WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE? Well I have rattled on long enough, you have a wonderful day and I will be praying for the knee. Donna

  6. Thank you, Donna. You know...you could come see it in person, any time! You're right! I will be desperately be needing my knee. I have to start fresh new gardens. I can't wait, though! I also can't wait to put a clothes line up. Is that weird?
I would love to have chickens! I would need a little chicken house first, though. Something to work toward.
I cannot believe your grandchildren are that old!!! They have a 15 year old?! Where did the time go?? Doesn't seem possible. Our youngest granddaughter, Rylee (8mos), has just learned to crawl. She is at such a precious stage in her life. I feel very fortunate that her mom and I get along so well, and that they love coming here. My time spent with them is so special to me.
Thank you for the knee prayers. I think they are working already! Feeling a bit better. I still think I did something to it, but I am REALLY laying low for it to heal.

    Stay warm!

Good morning folks! It's another cool rainy day, here in Northern Maine. Our long winter has turned into a long, cold spring. Let's...
