This is an old ice box that we had at camp, but when we sold the camp a couple years ago we couldn’t bear to part with it, so it followed us home. It still looks pretty much the same as it has over all the years. We don't know much about it, except what is written on it...

Right now we have it sitting on our porch. We use it as storage for our outdoor seasonal decorations. We were never really sure what to do with it, but we both knew we had to hang on to it. I can only imagine all the stories it could tell.
What would you do with it? Would you restore it? How would you use this beautiful piece? Where would you display it? What would you store inside? I’m quite curious…..
I’d love to hear your answers to these questions!
Blessings,
Julie
Hi Julie, That old ice box could be a beauty? Only my opinion...I think I would restore it. Probably going to take some work. Would be nice if some one could sandblast it. Seems like it should go in your kitchen and then store canned goods in it.Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Thanks for your idea. Fortunately for me, I have a brother that restores vehicles for a living. He told me that he could sandblast and repaint it. I think I'm going to take him up on it. I love the idea of storing my canned goods in it.

wow Julie!! I wouldn't have gotten rid of it either.... oh the possibilites! ;)
ReplyDeleteJoe actually thought I was nuts when I told him I was going to take it home and put it on our porch. He fell in love with it, though.
DeleteThanks for stopping by.
Julie
I love it right on your porch decorated for the holidays.

Me too, but I'm ready for something different. Just needed some fresh advice.
DeleteThanks,

Good morning Julie,
ReplyDeleteI want to say I am so sorry I have not been here before but if I had I apologize for not 'following' you and adding you to my sidebar. IT IS THERE NOW AND I'M FOLLOWING YOU.
What a nice blog and how interesting too.
Now that ice box is a gem...I can see a crock of some kind in the long open side with lots of pretty flowers in it for the different seasons...flowers for Spring / Summer....drieds like tall grasses, etc for Fall and greens and berries for Winter...how pretty would that look.
And then keep the other 2 doors closed...it would be lovely I think.
Thanks for sharing,
Karen
No apologies necessary! Just glad to have you here.
DeleteI love the idea of the crock. I never thought of that. You have me thinking now.
Blessings,
Julie
