A Little Drive in the Country...

....A day or two to slow down. I think these are lyrics to an Eagles song that I love to listen to.

What is it that we love about drives in the country? The fresh air, the scenery, the lack of winter snow? One of our favorite things to do in the summertime is to just drive around old back roads, old routes rarely taken, or even down roads in our area we would never otherwise go. It's such a relaxing thing to do.

Our vegetable garden is coming along nicely. The lettuce is ready to use, but I just haven't gotten out there to pick it yet. Something I really need to do tomorrow. I love a nice salad made from fresh greens.

How is your garden coming along? Have you been eating from it yet? We hoed up the potatoes the other day and a tiny little potato came to the surface. It got me so excited! Our granddaughter was thrilled at the sight of it, and it became her very own. She told us it grew because it was loved. So sweet!

She's right...it takes a certain amount of love to grow a garden.

I hope everyone is doing well and having a fabulous summer in whatever area of the country you are in.

Thanks for stopping by our little red saltbox!

Blessings,
Julie

Someday House Update….

fall saltbox

Things with the house are really moving along. Our loan was approved on Tuesday, the appraisal guy was here yesterday to look at all the blueprints and land, AND the ground work will start in about 3 weeks! We are so filled with excitement! It seems like everything moved all at once this week, but I’m not going to complain! This has been a long time coming!

Our "Someday House", as we refer to it, has been in the dream stage since Feb. 2003. The blueprints and style of the house have changed a bit over the past few years, but the dream of a new home never has.

I'll be sure to keep posting as things moves along. We pray the rain will not put a damper on the ground work schedule, but mother nature has the last say on that one.

From the beginning Joe and I have prayed that God's will be done, and we have definitely felt His hand at work in all of this. We continue to pray for His blessings, and to always remain in His will throughout this wonderful process.

Thank you for stopping by.....

Blessings,
Julie

We Have a New Granddaughter…..

IMG_7668

Early on Friday morning our son Thomas called us with the news that Danielle was in labor and had been up since 3 am. Thomas went to work so I drove to their home and stayed with Danielle for the day. Her contractions were 10 min. apart.

Knowing this may take a while I took her to a few stores to walk around and she had a few errands to run as well, since she knew this would probably be the last day before going into the hospital.

Her back was pretty sore, so I didn’t keep her out long.

By the time Thomas got home from work, her contractions were 6 min. apart and lasting about 1 min. Joe and I ate supper with them and stayed until 7:30 pm.

At about 12:30 am we got the call that they were going to the hospital. Joe and I headed up an hour later, in order to give them time to get settled in. When we arrived Thomas met us at the door with the biggest smile on his face and told us, “We’re having a baby!”

Remember what it was like when you had your first baby? Joe and I couldn’t believe that now our baby was having his first baby!!

Our son was by Danielle's side the whole time and so supportive. We are so proud of the man he has become.
Her labor was long and hard, but by 9 am Saturday morning we had a precious new granddaughter!

The Potager Garden

Good morning folks! It's another cool rainy day, here in Northern Maine. Our long winter has turned into a long, cold spring. Let's...
